Some Things Take Time…

Pinterest strikes again... I discovered this print while pinning this week. It comes to us from the First Ever Minted Art Print Challenge.

It's simplicity is what makes it beautiful and its message is one that's difficult to remember on a day-to-day basis.

This got me thinking about the delicate balance that goes into pairing vintage lamps with the perfect shade fabric.

You know how when you're shopping for something specific, you almost never find it? But the moment you stop looking, it magically appears?

This happens to me all the time. I'll pick up an awesome lamp and go out sourcing for the perfect fabric to complete the look and I'll come up empty. But a few days (or weeks) later, when I'm sourcing for a new piece, the right fabric will suddenly appear.

I guess it all comes back to the fact that you can't rush creativity. I'm always glad when I wait it out instead of settling for something that's only "ok". The same goes for decorating your home.

It's really unsettling when you opt for something that "does the job" and then find the "right" thing later down the line. You kick yourself for being so hasty in the first place.

I think we could all benefit from chilling out and letting time do its thing.

Do you agree?

Totally agree! When I find myself stuck on a project, I try to remember to walk away. And when I come back to it later, it clicks.

Couldn't agree more.

It's actually as though the stress blinds you and sabotages everything and once you relax (or forget about it, as is often the case for me) what you're after just materialises.

Same here, I agree. There are some things that don't grab my interest at first. But the moment I get get back on them, it's unimaginable.
