Orange Faceted Lamps… Thoughts? Opinions?
Tuesday, December 13, 2011
Ok, I need your opinion again... I picked up these lamps and I love the texture, the shape and the fact that they're a pair. But, I'm torn on colour.
My guy thinks that they're cool as is (orange & gold) and they kind of are, but what fabric could I possibly pair with them to modernize the whole look?
I think they should receive a fresh coat of enamel. Lately, I've been loving the look of glossy white over highly textured lamps because it really plays up the shapes. But, I'm open to suggestions.
What do you think?
Leave as-is or recoat with fresh enamel?

They are absolutely fabulous! They could be easier to sell with a fresh coat of enamel, but they are so much more interesting they way they are.
I would not paint over them!!! The color and detailing are what make them special, hip and retro. Paint them white and you have....white lamps that happen to have some neat texture to them. I think you'd actually cover over what will make them sell.
Not sure about the shades...but the ideas that pop into my head are burlap (that color if not texture), a nice crisp black, or some faux wood finish??? I dunno.
Wow! Here and on Twitter the consensus seems to be to leave them as is... Surprising! Now I just have to find the right fabric! Thanks!
I agree, leave the color. Maybe you could find some brown fabric to really bring out the darker parts of the texture for the shades.
leave as is they are great. find a pretty fabric for the shades and they will be perfect!! i am thinking a print with black and ????
