Haaave You Met… Fara?

My guy and I were out sourcing new lamps & shades for the store a few weeks back and we weren't having the best day. A "giant outdoor vintage sale" turned out to be a metal junkyard, which is cool, but not what we were hoping for.

The last stop of the day was an estate sale. Since we got there so late, I assumed that anything we may have been interested in would already be gone. But, I was pleasantly surprised to find this gorgeous, oversized lamp tucked away in a dark corner.

I was so excited that I picked it up and started to walk towards the payment counter without unplugging it (oops!). Luckily, my guy caught me before I got too far. When I got to the counter, the man running the sale told me that they had posted the lamp online beforehand and received multiple competing offers. But, they opted to try to sell it in person before entertaining any other offers, which obviously worked in everyone's favour.

Not only was the base in perfect condition, but the vintage shade still had the original protective plastic on it. Underneath was a clean and well cared for shade, but the colour was dated. So, I opted to recover it with this creamy, vanilla coloured fabric.

The base is so interesting and dynamic. The smooth, sun kissed glaze is topped with a cloud-like, textured glaze in a contrasting cream colour. Does it get more unique than that?

Fara seemed like a fitting name because of her tall, slender figure and, of course, her warm, glowing colour palette.

She's clearly been treasured by her past owner for many years. Is your home the next destination on her journey?
