Haaave You Met… Blake?

Last week, I asked for your input on the transformation of this lamp. I was planning to add a bold colour to the base and transform the retro shade with a simple, neutral fabric. But, I was torn on whether the base should be outfitted in a retro colour or a modern one.

I appreciated all of your suggestions, and was just about to roll with one until I saw the white primer coat on the lamp. Suddenly it became clear. This lamp was meant to be dressed in high-gloss, white enamel.

The lack of colour actually adds a crisp quality to the piece and allows the sculptural details to really shine. The grey & white, oversized, striped fabric on the shade adds a perfect modern accent to complete the look.

What was once a tired retro lamp is now a unique, high-style, work of art!

Given that Blake embodies the essence of an effortlessly beautiful, laid back chic, I think she'll quickly find a like-minded owner who will treasure her checkered past and triumphant return to coolness.

Head on over and visit Blake in the Mod Pieces store and don't forget check out my new Behance portfolio to see the before photo. This is definitely one of my most dramatic makeovers to date.

And, hey, if you like it... Pin it!

That was a great transformation. A retro lamp itself is already good but you made it more extra special with the notable changes in color, turning it into an elegant and exceptional piece.
